Monthly Meetings
We hold club meetings on the second Tuesday of the month from 7 PM to 9 PM at the Bristol Senior Center (240 Stafford Ave., Bristol, Connecticut). Monthly meetings are a great opportunity to start or add to your mineral collection, as well as to learn from, and with, others that share your passion for minerals and interest in the Earth Sciences.
Meetings generally begin with 45 - 60 minutes of club business including treasurer updates, a report from the lapidary center, notifications for field trips, and other announcements. Following the business portion we have a door prize drawing for free specimens. After the awarding of door prizes there is a brief break for refreshments during which we hold a silent auction, where members have the opportunity to buy and sell specimens, as well as other items relevent to rockhounding.
Following the silent auction we have expert speakers covering a wide range of topics including mineral collecting, geological processes, fossils, meteorite hunting, and more. Once per year we dedicate a meeting to a normal style auction for members, and in December we hold a holiday get together.
